A relatively short ~1.5 mile hike up a gradual incline will change, if not improve, the views all the way to the top! The route is littered with wildflowers, and in the late spring and early summer, a babbling Rocky Mountain brook will accompany (and, in many cases, cross) the trail. The look back towards Hoosier Pass from this spot is phenomenal. Wonderful views towards the Front Range to the east are also impressive, with a daunting valley separating everything. The summit of this route will afford the hiker a fairly straightforward opportunity to climb Bald Mountain aka Baldy (12,679’) This hike offers some supurb views of the Breckenridge Ski Area from a unique perspective, as well as some great panoramas of the Mosquito Range and all of its 14,000’ peaks! Try not to stare at the sky, though, as there are also some intriguing perspectives of the valley defining the area, and local flora. Overall, this is a less-traveled hike with great sweeping vistas, access to longer and more creative hikes (I was not aware this route was so close to Baldy until I was standing there) and some varied terrain in a moderately challenging, straightforward hike.
