I make it a point to explore the back roads of as many places as I can. there are myriad opportunities to do this when traveling back and forth between Colorado and the Midwest to spend time with family. Distant Thunder storms give an ominous and powerful feel to a scene, for sure. the colors brought on by seeing one of these thunderheads in the waning hours of twilight can be particularly incredible. Driving down a road so in frequented that the grass in between the wheel ruts was waist high, I saw this tree in the distance all by itself; the solitude and resilience that it embodies was a great way to enjoy the last few minutes of magical light that the passing storm provided.
