Photographing Moab is all about the light. The rocks change colors throughout the day just as fast as the temperature does! Finding this vantage point was only half of the equation, with a perch up on a cliff looking through to the glory that was about to unfold before me. My compass and instincts told me that this was going to be an epic scene, and indeed it was. I love how the light kisses the rocks, coming through little pockets and in between structures, making this moment truly special. I wonder how many days per year the light permeates so perfectly through those rocks? And of those, how many will have a pastel backdrop like this? I have no idea, but nothing feels better than bagging up my gear after watching a marvel like the scene here in “Dimensions” happen in real-time.
